[Justin is sitting in the gardens--not terribly unusual, in spite of the fighting going on. He isn't wearing armor or any identifying colors, and no weapon is in sight. Odd place for philosophical monologues.]

Where there is warfare, there are, inevitably, notions of good and evil. We fight for the exalted good, we oppose those who champion the ( Read more... )

You know all about good and evil, don't you, Road?

Maybe. They don't matter to me.

And I know that you really~ talk too much sometimes.

Exactly. You know enough to see truth, even if you don't recognize the truth itself.

Opinions, like morality, are subjective.

I'm not sure I understood all of that, but I don't think I agree with what I did get.

[OOC: won't attack Justin but will be more inclined to talk about his beliefs/hint at his motivations for fighting, since that's what he's doing today.]

What did you understand?

No offense meant, but I would classify you as a barbarian.

[ooc: Sounds good to me!]

I caught the bit there not really being any good or any evil.

I don't mind what you classify me as.

Thank you for maintaining an open mind.

Please define good and evil.

I disagree, there is definitive evil that can't be called anything else but that.

If there is a definitive evil, please define it.

Can you honestly say that someone who keeps another person prisoner to experiement and test on them isn't evil? Or what about the people that willingly, without fear of what Hitler would do to them or their families, helped him with the concentration camps aren't evil?

Sure, you could say they have their reasons or they can try to justify it by saying that they didn't believe it was evil. But that doesn't change the fact that it is. When you know that someone is suffering and you don't care because you're accomplishing your goal, that's evil.

[That last sentence? It applies to certain things Justin did outside of the City perfectly. Not that she knows that.]

No person's life is worth a stupid flag. That's not worth fighting about.

There are monsters. And there are good people.

...Why are you talking like this?

The flags don't mean anything. Anyone willing to die or kill for one misses the point.

Only monsters and good people? Isn't there anything between the two?

I'm analyzing the game. It's--it doesn't mean anything.

They are though. I don't know why. They're not listening. This is stupid.

Yes. I think so. I-I think there can be good monsters.

If it doesn't mean anything why are you saying so much? Or even talking about flags.

They're cursed. No one will listen to reason when they're cursed.

How would you recognize a good monster?

It's metaphor... symbolism. The unpinning philosophical ideas mean everything, but the flags and the game itself have no inherent meaning in and of themselves. I think.

[ooc: He really is cursed, I promise.]
