Holy ethics, Batman!

I just saw the new Batman movie, and holy cow, it was so complex that after four days, I'm still thinking about it.

Initial reaction: not for children. The Dark Night is really dark. The violence in the movie is not so much physical as it was psychological. The terror was not in the darkness or the shadows but in the madness that lurked not just in ( Read more... )

hi professor lomibao. oh my goodness, i am in hiatus mode for a very long time here in lj.

in our women's studies class, we, girls, were challenged to watch movie alone, and i watched batman. in an imax theatre pa.

honestly,i am not an avid fan of superhero movies. however, i watched superman and spiderman before (because of my bro) and i did enjoy them. hoping that i would enjoy Dark Night as well (because its trailers and pictures were everywhere), i watched it alone. but to my disappointment, i did not. it only left me with headache dahil masyadong mabilis ang camera at times ( ... )

Heath Ledger was perfectly successful in internalizing his character as Joker. From the lip-licks to the mannerisms - I couldn't think of anyone who could have done it better. I walked out of the cinema wondering if it affected his psychological state.

Yes, it is a really dark movie, so dark that even I myself could imagine Joker watching me while I was trying to sleep. Ha ha. I pity Two-Face though, he made a 360-turn from being the good guy and turning into a heartless, literally two-faced character. Just look what extreme anger gets us into.

Honestly, I think I would ask the same question he always asked: "Why so serious?"
This is definitely not for the timid.

when i watched "the dark knight", it scared me. one word had surfaced in my mind -- MANIPULATION. joker had manipulated all of them, in some sort of way. and in connection to the media, they also have the power to do this.

(sorry to be leaving comments to your post, though i don't think you remember me. i'm an old masscom student. your blog is just so enriching.Ü)
