I don't know. I think they might have just been trying to look/act tired! That little soft voice that MM does is brill! They did realise early on though that they had great chemistry, which is what led to them/the writers/producers pursuing the a/r relationship, but I'm not sure if the Ed would have been thinking about it quite so early. I always am though. ;)
