I was recently thinking about how the common ground she tells him to find with Sharon ends up being 'we wanted to live' and that she's dying- it's almost a cruel thing to say, as he found it to share with 'the enemy'.
Also, I can totally intrepret the 'we wanted to live' stare he gives her as 'I want you to live'..
The whole scene is so great but along with the irony you point out above, there is also Laura telling the crowd so sincerely, "We will get through this, all of us, together." Do you think she thought of that as a lie? And they all know she is dying, right? I've always wondered if Adama knows that it is down to a month now.
Perhaps in that moment Laura is simply saying humanity was going to make it? Though the 'all of us' makes it seem more personal than that. Maybe right then Laura entertained the possibility that she could make it, but as she walks off to be by herself, remembers in that moment that she isn't.
She could also consider herself apart from the group, though they have just made a rather marvelous gesture towards her with the naming of the Blackbird.
this scene gets me everytime! (*O*) they are both adorably cute! i don't know why but i love her hair in this scene ♥ and i'm sure he took her back to his quarters soon after. to rest ♥ and cuddle. she positively looks like cuddling
