The other appearance of Harvey in the DCnU that we all somehow missed: Finch's THE DARK KNIGHT #2

Aug 04, 2011 16:14

When it comes to Harvey's place in the DCnU, the only thing anybody seems to be talking about is his appearance in Scott Snyder's* Batman drawn by Greg Capullo. God knows that all I've noticed, and we've talked about it at length. However, it turns out that Harvey was actually featured front and center on another Batman cover, and no one noticed it ( Read more... )

Arkam must have a great gym. exposition_man0 August 5 2011, 06:08:25 UTC
My god I um wow did not expect to see that,David finch did not even draw croc that huge in the first issues of his series golly.

I wonder where he is going with this, maybe all the bat baddies are roiding up which could make for a pretty cool story. I just hope this is not plagued with the delays the first had.

Also in the the new batman game there is a custom skin to play as Batman from the animated series. That is a pretty good piece of batman fan love, especially considering its the second best next to the batman beyond skin in my obviously right opinion of course.

Oddly, Finch's take on Croc is oddly restrained and old school by comparison. I appreciate that, because I'm sick of Croc looking like the Lizard on steroids, which, considering, makes Finch's choice all the more surprising.

I saw the custom skin! Damn it, why can't we make skins like that for the ENTIRE game! I want to have TAS Two-Face and Sprang Joker and Burgess Meredith Penguin!

For being such a great game (it regularly felt like I was playing through several TAS episodes in one great row) I can't say any of the boss fights against the rogues really worked for me. Fighting Batman villains as Batman should be an unique and thrilling experience, not just tired rehashes of standard video game boss fights. The only ones that really got me invested for other reasons than wanting to see what came next was the hallucinations from Squishy (that's what you guys call him, right?), especially when you kind of slipped into them unknowingly while playing. A library suddenly turned into a rain-soaked Crime alley with voices from cops ridiculing young Bruce Wayne, or that automated announcer who suddenly asks "Did anyone catch the game last night?". Good stuff.

"Bigger, meaner, and more powerful than ever before, the inmates of Arkham Asylum run rampant as the entire Bat Family struggles to keep the walls from falling down, unleashing Gotham City's worst criminals on the unsuspecting population. And you won't believe the jaw-dropping final page! Just keep repeating, 'It's only a comic book. It's only a comic book...'"

... Yep, sounds like Venom.

Doesn't matter though, I still want to go get so drunk that I forget that image ever existed.

Poor Pengy... :(

The new logo is just... sad.

I wonder if it's just the feminist in me that thinks there's a stress on the first A and MAN. The T looks swallowed up between the first A and the M, and B looks kinda pushed to the side. Maybe it's just that all the crap I'm hearing about the people at DC lately (oh god the comic cons...) is making me see things.

Kinda liked the logo, even though I'd like to see it occasionally, not as the main thing. I mean, there's sooo many good Bat-logos to chose from, why stick with the mundane one?
