Kate Beaton's Sexy Batman

The latest strip by beatonna is slightly (disturbingly) relevant to our interests.

Now I regret not asking her for a sketch the last two or three times I had the chance. I'm now making it a point to request a "horrified Harvey" next time. Why, I bet it'll be an even bigger hit than her is surly Wonder Woman or is crazy Aquaman! Yeah, right.

Hef, since you're so fond of Sean Phillips' Two-Face, have you ever read the LOTDK story "Steps"? That one features a somewhat gratuitous scene with Harvey in Arkham, playing Hannibal Lector for Batman.

(Personally, I liked Jae Lee's Two-Face better in the first half of Jekyll and Hyde. The milky white eye is just so wonderfully creepy.)

I have read that, actually! That scene comes out of nowhere and adds virtually nothing to the story, and I can't help but think Paul Jenkins was laying the foundation for Jekyll & Hyde. When I eventually do a post about that story, I'll include the scene from Steps.

Jae Lee's might just be the most hauntingly beautiful take on Harvey, and I love it for that, but I prefer Phillips for being far more expressive (Lee gives his characters NO expression; in Dark Tower, a character looks only vaguely thoughtful even when she's screaming out a proclamation of love while being burned at the stake) and also more grotesque. There's actual texture to his scarring, so vivid that I can almost feel it.
