Batman. Gofer. Dog-robber. Piss boy. I’ve been called all of that and more since I started working for the Old Man. It doesn’t bother me.
The Admiral works hard. Too hard, and I’m glad he trusts me to help him out. Makes me feel like I’m a part of something. At first I felt like I was the only one who realized the hours he put in. But pretty soon after he got shot, dinner for two became SOP. Sometimes there isn’t room on the table for the food, what with all the files laid out everywhere. She’s usually there when I go back to clear.
People ask me all the time what’s going on with those two. Guess they figure I know something since I’m up his ass all the time. “Frak if I know,” I tell them, which I don’t. Well, didn’t.
I took his tray this morning and when I knocked there was no answer. He’s in the shower sometimes when I show up, and the guards just let me in. He wasn’t in the shower this morning. He was in his rack. And he wasn’t alone.
No one's gonna hear about it from me. I wouldn't do that to him. It’s part of my job to protect him and his reputation. Hers now too, I guess. Don’t know if this is gonna be a normal thing. But I guess I’ll add hot tea to his breakfast tray from now on.
