Technical Query

Dec 14, 2006 16:14

I seem to remember that if I ssh into my math account, there's some very simple one line command I can type to set my math email to forward somewhere else (my gmail). However, I can't remember what it is. Does anyone else?

(This is prompted by the huge amount of math spam I got today that I've decided I want gmail to deal with not me).

edit your .forward file and put the place you want it to forward to in their.

the simple one line command is

echo 'myemail@forward.here' > .forward

Peter's reply is what I would have suggested too. I have also been irked to the point of switching my math mail to be forwarded to my gmail account. However, since I want to copy over all my past mail too, I haven't gotten around to doing the conversion because I haven't had very steady internet access in Europe.

In case you want to forward over all your old math email to Gmail, this website seems to have a good way to do it:

Well, it seemed to work. I would like to send all my old stuff over at some point, so I'll definitely take a look at that link later.
