Why is it cool to flash gang signs in photographs? Especially when you're not even in a gang?

hehe, yes I have done it.
I have a friend on lj, who flicks people off on her pictures a few times a month. It's really annoying and offensive. It's like why are u flicking your friends off on your friend's only lj? you dont look cool.
