21st Arrow [Action]

May 10, 2010 13:45

[Everything has changed since Rebecca was taken. Her best friend is gone. Her roommate? Returned home. A close friend of hers had died. Before she can find out any of this, though, she has the side-effects of her own recent experiment to deal with.

It starts near the barracks, where Rebecca wakes up. She's not the same, though. She has a faint red ( Read more... )

[Lyn is heading back from a morning of training. And by "training", I mean "throwing herself brutally against the dummies in an attempt to make herself so exhausted she can't worry anymore". It's more or less worked, in the sense that now she's so wiped out that all she can really think of is getting back to her oh-so-empty apartment, showering, and throwing herself on the bed.

But she's got something else to deal with first, it seems.] R-Rebecca... [She swallows, not wanting to have the conversation she's about to.] You're back.

[OOC: I... have no idea where I want this to go, whether I want Lyn hurt or what. But there's no way she could possibly ignore this.]

[...Not herself... Rebecca would never shoot at him. Ever. Whatever's going on isn't right... the Malnosso did something to her. And that was not going to fly. The air around Adell begins to distort and warp to the eye, his Mana power waking up...]

[And with a grunt of pain, he yanks the arrow out. Normally an unwise idea, the injury doesn't seem to stop him; and in fact, doesn't look nearly as bad as it should.

...And now his gaze affixes on Rebecca. And here he comes, charging toward her with lightning speed. He's going to go right for a grapple if he can. He knows she can't beat him in that sort of combat.]

[The knocking of the arrow and Rebecca turning to the newcomer have Lyn rushing forward.] No!

[It's all she can get out before the arrow slams into Adell's shoulder. Lyn's eyes flicker to him, worry clear in her face. She might not know him, but he clearly knows Rebecca and he's done nothing to warrant an arrow in the arm.] Are you all-

[And once again she's cut off as he suddenly lunges forward at a speed which, by all rights, no one should be able to move at without some sort of magical assistance. She just... stops, standing there in shock as he closes the distance between himself and Rebecca.]

[Adell's lightning quick-speed does nothing to phase Rebecca. She still fires another arrow, and another as he approaches. Even though it's clear she doesn't stand a chance against someone as fast as Adell when cornered at the fountain, she doesn't quit. She can't quit. Where a normal person would flinch or move away or try to stop, Rebecca stands her ground and tries to finish Adell off before he can reach her.]

[As the arrows fly toward him, this time he's not going to let himself get hit. As they're let loose, Adell begins to phase in and out of sight, leaving behind illusionary duplicates of himself heading toward Rebecca in a V formation. The two arrows pass through two different duplicates harmlessly...

And then the real Adell pops up behind her. But instead of delivering a shattering attack, he instead tries to grab her into a full bear-hug bodylock. He'd pin her arms against her body and use a lot of strength to make sure she can't move.]

[The sight of the arrows flying at Adell makes her take in a breath in worry, but the following vanishment of the duplicates gets an eyebrow raise.

Before she can really think about how he managed to do that, her body moves toward the two in reflex. Gripping her sword and turning it so the blade's behind her, she rushes in to try and hit Rebecca with the pommel.]

[When she's restrained, she's furious--she struggles against Adell the best that she can, and she wants nothing more to break free, grab her bow from the grass, and continue the battle. It's no use, though; when it comes to strength, she's nowhere near as strong as Adell.

She doesn't struggle long, though. She can't even try to dodge Lyn's attack, now that she's being restrained. It takes one good blunt hit to get her to stop struggling, and she's instantly dazed. She had been pushing her body to the limit, since she's very exhausted, thirsty, and hungry from mallynapping.

After a moment of just staring, not even forming a coherent syllable despite her efforts, her head just limply falls to the side...with her mouth open, no less. She's down.]

...Sorry, Rebecca.

[Once he's sure she's unconscious, he gently slides her to lie down on the ground. He then removes the rest of the arrows she has from her quiver. At that point while still crouching, he'll look up to Lyn.]

What happened? Did she come back like this? [...And then he notices the blood trickling down her leg. Hard to miss at this angle.] You've been hurt...

[She grimaces a little as she watches her slump.] I'm sorry too.

[She turns her attention to Adell at the question, then blinks at his observation.] Oh, that... it's nothing, I'll take care of it after we've got her safe. As for what happened, she's been placed under the effects of a spell from our world, called berserk. It... well, it does just what it sounds like. She'll just attack anyone who catches her notice. And yes, I'm pretty sure she came back like this.

[He nods.]

...Do we have to get some kind of magic to remove it? Like, Espoir or a dispel spell or something? And where should we take her? To the clinic, or...?

A Recover staff would do the job, but now that Nino's gone, there's no one here from home that can use one. [She ponders for a moment.] But if you know anyone with magic to remove these sorts of effects, we could try asking them for help. I think taking her to the clinic first would be best though. That head blow could be dangerous.

I know someone who might be able to do something similar. Hopefully she can help.

[And he picks up Rebecca into his arms carefully, making sure to support her head.]

Come on, let's get her there. Can you grab her bow? I don't think she'd want to lose that. ...I'm Adell, by the way.

Great. Let's go find your friend then.

[She grabs the bow and gives him a quick nod.] Circumstances aside, it's good to meet you, Adell. I'm Lyn.
