Oh lawd...I get these sudden, horrible moments when I'm listening to music in my playlist and suddenly I think,

"Oh.

That's where I got that idea from."

Then realise it's almost exactly the same.

...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh FUCK.

music, compo

Happens with me and writing all the time.

It's such a bitch.

Like, I don't know what the protocol is if you thought of a thing, but then waaay after the fact, but before you've finished making your thing, you discover an exisiting thing that is annoyingly similar.

I guess you could still disclaim it? I think what really matters is whether it was intentionally ripped off or not.

I read a quote the other day...dammit, I REALLY wish I'd written it down. Anyway, it was something about "it doesn't matter where it comes from, but it does matter what you do with it."

Now let's design sexual misinterpretations of that sentence.

Yeah, I guess. I dunno, I suspect it's just one of those things I like to complain about too. I don't do it as much as I used to when I was like, 10-13? I think this thing Han and I tried to write once was blatantly 'Golden Sun' plagiarised. Yes. 'Golden Sun' the Gameboy-or-whatever game.

XD

Compare Nine Inch Nails' "The Hand That Feeds" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwhBRJStz7w) to Bodyrockers' "I Like The Way You Move".

NIN's song released March 28 2005; Bodyrockers' song released April 2005. LOL.

NIN's song wins though. Personally-speaking.

i've always sort of thought that, given an infinite amount of time, mankind could create every single possible song imaginable, but then they are always creating new instruments and i suppose also there is an infinite combination of lengths and pitches and what have you. i'm not sure. the point of this comment is that i can't compose any kind of music, at all. the fact that you can actually create music (FOR STRING QUARTETS, NO LESS), even if some of does happen to be slightly "inspired", is still amazing, impressive, and sets you apart from a good ~%90 percent of everyone else. YOU ARE AMAZING. it's natural for the mind to pick up patterns and ideas it likes i guess, also? if someone says a pretty word you don't know, you'll ask what it means and maybe start using it yourself; perhaps what is happening here is just the musical equivalent?

i don't know. haha. CHEER UP CHARLIE~

...<3. Your words are so lovely! And I love to hear/read others' perspectives on these things, even if you don't think you're particularly talented in that area.

Thankyou~
*Hugs you*
