Fuck em all to fucking hell!

Fuck the MTA for being bureaucratic imbeciles, but fuck the TWU for turning down a decent offer and thinking they deserve a pension comparable to FIREFIGHTERS AND POLICE OFFICERS. I mean, yes, people on public transportation can get mean, but you're not exactly putting your life on the line on a daily basis, you bastards ( Read more... )

You get a cookie for even trying to go to work this morning. But then, it sounds like your company bothered to make a contingency plan. I've been checking my work email all morning and not one single email. I hate to think I'll get docked a day's pay for this.

Plus, I just walked down to Queens Blvd. and saw not just one but several Q60 buses running, with people in them! Huh? I'm confused.

Well, we have four people who live in Brooklyn, one who has a car. So pretty much I didn't have a choice, though if they had gone on strike on Friday we could have stayed home. I can't even stay home tomorrow because then my coworkers won't be able to get in!

I saw Green Line buses running. Maybe the express buses are private and not subject to the strike?

I loved your rant--very eloquently stated and I may just direct people to your LJ to read it because it's better than what my addled brain could have come up with today.

Isn't it funny that just yesterday you said you wanted to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge? Well, TONS of people are doing just that today!

The Green Lines are a private bus line apparently, which is why they are running. If this piece of utter shit situation is still going on tomorrow, I may try taking the super slow Q60 in because it's GOTTA be better than waiting on line at Jamaica Station like I did today.

Oh yes, the f word is soooo eloquent. :b ;) Problem is it's friends protected, so... I guess I can unprotect it if you really want.

I feel so resentful being here today. And knowing I have no idea what time I'm getting home.

Yeah, it was so odd, I've not seen that many people walking across the bridge since the blackout and 9/11. Of course then it was WARM...

I feel like if the TWU were stubborn enough to go on strike, they're going to keep it up for a bit. I'd be surprised if it's settled before Christmas. That must have been hell, you have my admiration!

what really blows for me (well, and for the many others in my sitch) is that i my already pathetically paying jobs are p/t, which means sumy don't go to work, sumy don't get paid, sumy don't eat! of course none of my jobs or internship discussed any sort of plan whatsover - the salaried people did, but mentioned nothing to the peons. *shakes fist*

did you catch that french person on the street on ny1, who said it's like this in france all the time XD

Yeah, that really sucks. Although, I bet if I couldn't get in I wouldn't be getting paid, either. Or they'd deduct it from my vacation time or something.

Nope, I didn't, but yeah, the French are notorious for striking all the time. When I was there, the air traffic controllers went on strike and we were stuck in Paris for an extra day. (A hardship. :b)

The French railways appear to be on strike more often than they actually WORK. That is pretty much the main reason why I'd never go to Paris using the Thalys train. I KNOW it's the fastest way to get there, but I'd never risk it.

Well, luckily that's one of the few strikes I didn't experience in my travels. The catering strike at Heathrow was fun. No meals to or from London this summer, yay.

A bit perturbed that someone was able to post as me, but this time it's actually me. Yeah, it's just three of us who are good friends, I doubt you'd want to join. I should write something in the info page, sorry.
