you carry too much on your shoulders [Sofia]

Cameron went out earlier; Donna noticed, but she didn't really pay much attention if he told her where he was going. That was probably a mistake, in retrospect, but Donna gets a certain way when she's actually focused on something -- everything else falls by the wayside. It makes her a good writer and a terrible person to be involved with. (It's ( Read more... )

Sofia's been fidgety and weird since the power outage -- scared to sleep, though she did, eventually, but when she woke up she'd just stare out the window for ages and ages. Her daytime behavior was normal enough, but Sofia exercises such a tight control over her emotions around everyone but Jack that...most people would never really know if something was wrong, anyway.

Regardless, getting out of the house? Can't hurt. So she's knocking on Donna's door. Jack is with her, in fact. Presumably he didn't want to be left alone in the house with Mimi.

"I don' know why we couldn've just stayed 'ome and fucked." He mumbles, arms hanging loose over her shoulders, chest leaned against her back, and chin perched on the top of her head. "We left 'vat bloody 'otel to get away from people an' you're playin' Susie 'omemaker."

The first knock doesn't get Donna's attention -- she's busy, intent, the rest of the world might as well not exist (careful what you wish for). By the fourth, though, it's intruded into her focus and she glances up, puzzled. Cameron has a key; he wouldn't be knocking. If he did have to knock, he'd know to call, too -- she was like this when he left.

Process of elimination (there aren't many people to eliminate, really) leads her to deduce that Sofia's come over...this means she has to put some pants on. "Just a second," she yells, leaving the notebooks in disorder on the floor. "I'll be right there."

"Jaaack. Come on. I like people." She's comfortable with his arms around her and doesn't squirm, unless it's to get closer -- which is sort of difficult in this position, so. "Anyway, it's good to know our neighbors in case of an emergency or something."

When she hears Donna she beams, although no one can actually see it, and waits. "You'll like them! I haven't talked to Cameron as much but Donna's really cool."

Determined optimism, hello.
