freakonomics, grave of the fireflies

I finished Freakonomics last night. The Guardian Digested Read pretty much sums it up.

A couple of nights ago I watched Grave of the Fireflies. I had seen that Roger Ebert listed it as one of his great movies. His review gives away quite a bit of the plot, which I could tell when I read it, so I didn't read it too closely. I probably should have, ( Read more... )

We own Grave of the Fireflies on dvd. It's a lovely movie, but so so sad.

Tonight we watched The Pianist, from our Netflix selection, also fairly gut wrenching, especially the beginning when you see the systematic degradation of the Jews. I really had a hard time watching that.

I thought Grave of the Fireflies was an amazing movie, but just beyond sad. Have you watched it more than once? i'm not sure I would be able to.

I think I'm too emotional right now to watch something else sad, but I do want to see the Pianist at some point.
