First day at a new college, which is good in so many ways. Connor will be able to think about classes and whether all the attempts to catch up will have been enough, instead of thinking about Kara's outburst at the party, and Cordelia with both Bruce Wayne and Lindsey MacDonald. Yes, good in so many ways

She's taken a hotel room not far from his current address. Thankfully Elizabeth has always liked Natalie and didn't find any reason not to share Harry's new address with her. Gotham is a nice city, but Natalie can't believe Harry Osborn left Manhattan for any other city in the world.
She thought about bringing Evan with her, but she didn't want to expose him to a tense situation if she could prevent it. He's currently in the hotel room with her sister, and if things go okay, she will have Paige bring him over. But first things first, she has to talk to Harry. Hoping this will be the time he answers the door, she rings the bell, and when the other boy answers, she smiles and says, "Hello, is Harry home?"

While talking, he tries to remember whether he has met her in New York at one of the charities or otherwise, but if so, it can't have been for more than a second, because he has a good memory, especially about Harry's friends. So he decides to be open about not recognizing her, reaches out his hand and says:
"Connor Riley. We never met before, right?"

"No, we've never met. I'm Natalie Spencer, an old girlfriend of Harry's, but I've heard lots about you."
She purposely lets the girlfriend remark in because it's just the way their circle has always worked. Make sure you make it clear you were there first. Of course with Harry Osborn, that doesn't mean much, who hasn't been there first?
"Do you mind if I wait? It's really important that I speak with him right away. I've been trying for days, but I guess you were out of town."

After a beat, he adds: "At Lex Luthor's." Just so she knows Harry isn't ashamed of presenting him to other old friends. Which is a silly thought. To make up for it, he recalls his manners and asks: "Can I get you something to drink? Coffee?"

"If he lets me," he qualifies, because for all he knows the kid might start screaming at the attempt. He has an idea, takes two of Armani's crackers and starts to juggle them for Evan's benefit. It's something he uses for exercise, though usually with stakes and knifes; it's a constant test of reflexes. He also used it once to entertain Harry in a New York club, but that doesn't belong here. The child seems to like it. But where is Harry ( ... )

"He's pretty good with people if he likes them. If he didn't like you he'd be clinging to me pretty hard."
She has a feeling she knows what Connor's question will be. Smoothing back the curls on her son's head she nods her head and says, "Yes, of course. Ask me anything you want, and I'll do my best to answer it."

It's a more diplomatic phrase than "Harry isn't by any chance which of course can't be because he would have told me your child's father?"
It occurs to him that the last person from Harry's past to drop by and request a conversation had been Lionel Luthor. Not a good thought to have right now. But this was different; surely Natalie couldn't have anything in common with Lionel "Why isn't he dead already?" Luthor.
Except for the part where they both slept with Harry, but that was different.
