I feel like I should be encouraging people to buy a $3 paid account, but I have some invites, so if you want one just leave me an email address

What I love about Dreamwidth is that you can add someone to your reading list, but that doesn't automatically mean they can see your flocked posts. There are a few people on LJ who I'd like to add to my reading list, but I don't know them well enough (or at all) to want them to read everything about me. Instead, I try to remember to check their posts every few days, but I forget and miss a lot.
Did you know that you can track to see when someone makes a new post though? So you'd get an email. It's the push-pin looking icon on someone's profile that says "Track User"; and then just check the appropriate boxes.
Be warned that there are a few limitations though. If you choose to only track someone's tagged posts, it only works if they originally post it with the right tag; if they post and then edit the tags in, you won't get a notification. Ditto to if someone posts an entry at a security level that you can't see (for example, if they have set a minimum security level) and then later edits it to be public.
hi! dreamwidth feels like a good place. if you still have an invite code, i'd very much want to pitch a tent over there. my address: binsoup at gmail. thanks. i just read through the volunteer info at DW, and am seriously thinking about it. i've done QA and doc work before, so i may sign-up for either soon as i can clear my calendar.
