Chapter 1

“Move it! I said move it! You’re in my way!” A middle-aged man filled with wrinkles on his face shouted at Kanon. Scared and helpless, Kanon quickly bowed her head and scurried away from him. She couldn’t help it that she bumped into him. He was the one who made her fall. After all, her only guide is a walking stick.

Kanon was heading to her job in Tokyo. She worked at a rehab center for blind people. She taught them the basics of how to live when you can’t see the world around you.

“Ohayo Kanon-chan! What’s wrong? You’re sweating like you were being chased by the mafia.” Natsuki, a lady who also worked at the rehab center said. She’s not blind like Kanon but she is friendly with everyone she meets.

“Iie. It’s just…” Kanon trailed off. She was worried that if she told Natsuki what had happened. Natsuki was going to give a piece of her mind to the middle-aged man. Natsuki is friendly but sometimes she can go to the extreme.

“I’m okay, Natsuki-chan. I was chased by a dog and ran here.” Kanon gave Natsuki an assured smile and walked towards the staff room. Natsuki quietly followed behind her.

“Are you sure? You know it won’t hurt if you get help from others.” Natsuki sighed and folded her arms. Kanon smiled at her and nodded her head. “Don’t worry. If I’m being chased by the mafia, I’ll let you know as soon as possible.” Kanon chuckled and entered the staff room.

Natsuki was a former yankee leader of a group notorious in Tokyo. Originally from Osaka, she moved to Tokyo about 10 years ago. When you know Natsuki is mad, she starts spitting out swear words in an Kansai accent. Anyways, she changed her ways after she did some community service at the rehab center they are currently at. Natsuki pitied people who once could see, but now is blind. She wanted to help them and that’s how Kanon and her met. Actually, when Natsuki first came to the rehab center, everyone avoided her because of her fowl language and rude behavior, but Kanon was the only person who was kind to her. They quickly became friends and Kanon taught Natsuki how to be nice to others.

Kanon placed her bag on top of the shelf and she pulled her compact walking stick from her pocket. Up to 18 years ago, Kanon was able to see until an unfortunate accident led her to become 80% blind.

Kanon started to hold her walking stick tightly in her hand. The walking stick was her only guide to see where she is going. Also her hearing was extraordinary. Since she was growing up to not know what was in front of her, she developed a strong sense of hearing.

“Kanon-chan! The Yamadas are here.” Natsuki opened the staff room door and said to Kanon. Kanon slowly nodded her head and began to walk towards the Yamadas.

The Yamadas is a middle class family with 2 boys. The youngest son got into an accident and lost the ability to see in his left eye. The Yamadas made sure their youngest son was doing rehab in order to slowly regain his eyesight back.

Kanon envied a family like the Yamadas. Both parents would take time off just to make sure their child was okay and receiving treatments. They cared for him and loved him. On the other hand, Kanon’s parents had abandoned her once she was 20 years old and able to live on her own.

Kanon smiled as she approached the loud and talkative Yamadas that were in the front lobby. “Shall we continue with the rehab that we did last week?” She asked.

Then she heard a loud and excited voice coming from the younger son. “Hai!” Kanon giggled. Even though she envied them, she was happy that she is able to help a family struggling with their own problems.

“Did you hear that Johnny-san wants us to hold a charity concert?” Aiba shouted as he entered their dressing room. Jun, Sho, Nino and Ohno widened their eyes. “Maji de?” Sho shouted and scratched his head.

Aiba bobbed his head and quickly sat down beside Nino who was sitting on the sofa. “I heard that Johnny-san wants to promote us to every single person in Japan. Like who doesn’t know us by now…” Jun muttered and crossed his legs.

“My uncle’s brother-in-law’s daughter doesn’t know us…” Ohno muttered and folded his arms. Nino chuckled and glanced at him. “Because she lives on a boat and hates the city.” Ohno quickly nodded his head at Nino and said. “Oh yeah. You’re right.” Nino chuckled and continued to concentrate at his gaming console screen.

“What kind of charity concert Aiba-kun?” Sho asked with an intrigued look. Aiba cocked his head and shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know. I just overheard it from our managers outside the room.”

Jun sighed and got up to pick up his drink that was on the make-up counter. “And I thought this time we can have another concert overseas…” Jun said in a disappointed tone and leaned against the counter. He took a sip of his drink and sighed.

The 4 other members nodded their heads sadly and Aiba picked up a cookie that was given as a gift to them. “But this way, our music can be broaden to people without any boarders. Wouldn't it sound fun to meet people that can be inspired by our music?” Sho tried to cheer everyone up.

“I guess…” Jun muttered as everyone started to moan quietly by themselves. All of them wanted to have another concert overseas but what could they do, Johnny-san is the only person that can make the final decision of what they can do.
