Chapter 4 - Cannot Escape the Night
Last Night - 8 p.m.
After his ridiculous and corny speech, Nino sighed as he scratched his head when he exited the room. He also thought his speech was full of empty words since he was suddenly put on the spot. He was embarrassed of himself that he used words that no one would actually care about. He had a feeling that more people were envious of him than happy for him since he was an idol and successful.
He decided to head to the washroom to freshen up a bit when he noticed a familiar figure sitting on an armchair in the distance. He slowly walked up towards it to see Michiko sleeping soundly with her some strands of hair covering her face. He smiled to himself and slowly reached his hand closer to her face when she suddenly opened her eyes.
He perked up and took a step back out from fright. “Gomen I was going to…” He wanted to apologize but then he noticed that Michiko was acting weird. “You!” she pointed at his face. “You! I never wanted to see your face again.” She said drunkenly, “I confesss--ed to you and you accept--ed it withut a un unce of eart or luv. How culd you… BAKA!” She hiccupped and then fell asleep again.
Nino chuckled to himself as he saw how cute Michiko was acting when she was drunk. Since he noticed that Michiko was in no state and knew she wouldn't head back to the reunion, he decided that he should take her home.
“Come on Arita-kun, let’s get you back home.” Nino muttered under his breath as he wrapped her arm over his shoulder and tried to carry her outside to his car. “Un… Oba-san, tell me a story again.” Michiko muttered in her sleep. Nino looked at her and wondered what she was dreaming about.
Nino dragged her to the car and opened the door before Michiko began to squirm. “No, why did he do that to me?” She shouted and then her body began to sway back and forth. Nino knew he had to act quickly before Michiko did something dangerous or accidently hurt herself.
He placed her in the passenger seat and reached over her to buckle the seatbelt when Michiko grabbed his face and squished it together. “Since you love doing it to me, I’ll do it to you oji-san.” Michiko was dreaming about her time when she spent her summer at her grandparents’ house. She hated when her grandfather played and pinched her face whenever she was preoccupied with something.
“Arita-kun… What are you…?” Nino was about to pull her hands away from his face when he noticed Michiko’s tears. “Gomen. Gomen. I didn’t want to hurt you. I just…” Michiko kept apologizing that she stopped squirming in her seat.
With ease, he closed the door after he buckled her seatbelt and climbed into the driver’s seat. He started the car and immediately turned off the radio in consideration for Michiko. He didn’t want to wake her and find out that she was in his car.
Michiko’s head felt to the side and her hair had clung to her skin due to her tears. He made a small smile and reached over to her purse. He didn’t know where she lived so he had hoped that there was a clue in her purse.
Quietly as possible, he scavenged through her purse to find a small planner. He opened it up and noticed that she had written her address down. He input the address in his car’s GPS system before he drove off to her address.
The car ride was quiet as Nino drove carefully through the night. He didn’t want to do anything that would wake her up. He smiled as he glanced at her a couple of times to make sure she was okay. Then he started to remember a past memory that he shared with her.
“Look! That cloud looks like as a pizza! Oh, how long I’ve craved for you.” Michiko said with a giggle at the end of her sentence. Nino chuckled and shook his head in disbelief. He and Michiko were hanging out on a hill and staring at the clouds that were passing by. It was almost summer vacation and they were ready to get a week head start.
Then Michiko smiled and sat up. “Ne, what are you going to do for summer vacation?” She asked curiously as she looked at him with curious eyes, she had wondered if he had the time to spend some days together. Nino sat up as well and wondered why she was asking him that question.
But he didn’t want to offend her so he answered honestly. “It seems Johnny-san is preparing me for something… I don’t know if I’m a part of that plan but he asked me to make room and to get my passport ready.” Nino did not know it yet but this summer vacation was forever going to change his life.
“Ah sou…” Michiko trailed off and was a disappointed that they wouldn’t be able to hang out during the summer. But she knew that Nino loved his job and wouldn’t want to abandon his roles and duties so they could hang out. She promised herself that ‘next-time’ they’ll hang out.
Nino parked the car into a parking spot and sighed before he looked over at Michiko. She was sleeping soundly. Then he began to observe her face more closely: her long eyelashes, and her round but sharp nose to her thin lips. Nino blushed and quickly looked away before he was too deeply entranced by her beauty.
He unbuckled her seatbelt slowly and then climbed out to carry her to her room. Luckily there was someone smoking near the apartment complex so he immediately went to him for help.
“Konbanwa. Do you know where Arita Michiko lives?” Nino asked the man. He looked at him and answered him like a normal person. He never noticed that he was from a popular idol group. “She lives on the third floor. Room 310.” Then the man noticed that Nino was struggling a bit, “Do you want some help? She looks heavy…” Nino smiled, as he was thankful for his offer.
Both of them started to carry Michiko to her room. Once they were in front of her door, Nino thanked him and he walked away. As he was trying to find her key, Michiko slowly opened her eyes and noticed that she was in front of her apartment.
She reached into her pants pocket to pull out a small key holder with a key. She unconsciously unlocked the door and Nino was surprised at her. He quickly scrambled to grab everything and rushed inside.
“Wow, you’re place is clean.” Nino muttered and looked around. Michiko in her drunken state, looked at Nino with droopy eyes and thoughts that she was seeing things. “Kazu-channn?” She asked and her vision blurred and twirled. She was beginning to see more than one Nino.
She tried to grab Nino in the air but of course that wouldn’t work. She walked closer and tripped on a slipper that was at the front door. He quickly grabbed her before she fell and he sighed. Although taking care of her was a bit tiring, he had enjoyed seeing a different side of her.
“I’ve missed you… I…” She said and suddenly kissed his lips. Nino dropped everything in his hands and was surprised but at the same time, he liked it. He began to close his eyes and kissed her back.
Then he noticed that she was beginning to unbutton his shirt. He reacted quickly and placed his hands on top of hers to stop from what she was doing. He knew it was an imprudent move that Michiko was doing and he didn’t want to upset her by taking advantage of this situation but…
As their kiss got passionate, his heart told him that he couldn’t restrain himself any longer. He was in love with her and always regretted that time when he shoved her away. He made an impulsive decision and slipped his hands off from hers. He allowed himself to let her embrace him. He wanted to show her that he had feelings for her no matter how she acted towards him. Slowly his mind became blank and allowed his desires to kick in, without thinking about the consequences that lay in store for the both of them.

I enjoyed writing a drunken Michiko and her crazy behaviour.（＞ｙ＜）Although the main theme of the story is quite heavy and serious, I wanted to write what had happened in between to be cute and sweet.
