[ Galadriel stands before one of the walls within the office building the Elves call their camp, smoothing long fingers across the surface to carefully blend together colors she's spent several hours applying, having grown fed up with the blandness of the constricting walls around. If they couldn't have any growing things about them, then she would ( Read more... )

[Cheetara focuses more on the mural displayed, than the lens of her phone, but after a moment makes a small bow and finally fixes her eyes where she understands others will view her most directly.]

It's a lovely mural, if I may say. [She knew someone at home who did drawings.]

Pardon. My name's Cheetara. I do not remember that we met. [She means to ask if there are truly ghosts, and pauses. But Cheetara decides to wait.]

I appreciate the kindness. I fear the starkness of the wall and the scarcity of growing things here spurred me to attempt arts I have but dabbled in before.

[ With a smile, Galadriel bows her head in greeting. ]

We have not, but shall remedy that now. You are well met, Cheetara; I am Galadriel of Lothlórien.

Pleased to meet you, Galadriel of Lothlórien. I am of the clan of the Thundercats, but you may simply call me Cheetara.

If you don't mind- did you truly sense a spirit nearby? I have seen some other broadcasts mentioning strange sights, but I have not seen this myself. [It is apparently rarely noticed.] But, my sense for such things is slight.

Then let us dispose of formalities entirely. Simply Galadriel will do.

I did. I have sensed various presences since my arrival, but these specific ones have appeared only recently. I am an Elf, and our kind are more deeply in tune with the spirit world than mortals, and thus perceive many things others may not - at least, in speaking of the other races of my home realm. I have spoken to few here with a similar kind of sensitivity. But I do possess certain powers which are not gifted to all of my kindred, as well.

[ Galadriel raises a brow at the language, but her lips quirk into a slight smirk nevertheless. ]

Apt. You see them as well?

Well not actually 'see', just catch somethin' every now an' then at the corner of my eye. I think it's the ghosts yer talking 'bout.

Yes, that is what I have experienced as well. They do not feel malicious, simply... watchful. As if they are tasked to keep an eye on us.

[Despite the simple tools available to her in the city, the mural was beautiful in a way that only something crafted by the elves could be. Faramir had caught sight of the start of her work on an earlier visit and, on his next trip into the city in search of supplies, he had found himself drawn to a box of paints in one of the deserted shops.

It was a meagre gift and the Lady Galadriel used to much finer things, but it was the best that the city - and Faramir, at present - could offer.

Ghosts, my lady?

[He hesitated to disturb her, pausing in the doorway with paints in hand.]

[ Like Aragorn, Faramir tread lightly, but not even the softest footsteps of a Ranger skilled in his craft could fool elf ears. That aside, the same forces - Galadriel's own power amplified with that of Nenya - that allowed her to be aware of every little thing that went on within the borders of Lothlorien also kept vigil on all of the building that served as their housing in the dark city. No evil thing would sneak in the camp without her knowledge, nothing would pass if she did not allow it.

Faramir was a guest well received. The Captain of Gondor was proving to be both similar and entirely different from his older brother. Though they had spoken but a handful of times, it hadn't taken long for Galadriel to perceive that Faramir had a calm but deep sense of power and strength about him that reminded her slightly - curiously, perhaps - of her own husband. A tree with its roots deep in the soil, bending at times but not breaking. ]

These shades that lurk on the edge of exposure, watching us. Bothersome little things.

[The people of Middle-earth were no strangers to living with malevolent shadows lurking at the edge of their consciousness, but the shadows of Abax were different. The cause was unclear and the remedy was even more elusive.]

I wonder what it is that they wish to see. [He did not have the ability to sense them as she did, but the unease that he felt within the city was unsettling enough.] I am well, my lady. Thank you.

[He stepped into the room.]

I have a gift for you.

Whatever we would prefer to keep hidden, I have little doubt.

[ She gave a small, wry smile at that. One didn't need to spend but days in Abax to realize the place was actively conspiring against its citizens, brought there against their will. To expect any sort of benevolence from the elusive forces that served as their keepers would be foolish indeed. Thankfully, Galadriel knew those of Middle-earth did not scare so easily, nor were entirely unfamiliar with dark powers. ]

A gift? [ She couldn't quite hide her surprise, though it was swiftly replaced with curiosity. ] To what do I owe such honor?
