[Here Abax, have a video display of a pile of vending machine peanut butter crackers and a small stash of oranges. They're all kept in what looks like a drawer but otherwise are singularly unremarkable

[Charles cocks his head, glancing at the nest in question and then looking perplexed.]
She feels its normal and truly, what in this city can we define as normal? Snowmen eating people, trains that never stop, ugly holiday sweaters. Why not a teenager making a nest?
Just rather wish it wasn't made out of my sweaters.
[He had noticed the clothes were gone but honestly hadn't been able to figure out where they might have gone.]
It would appear to be the case. [Charles says, his tone gentle and worried mostly.] I keep trying to tell her that she'd be safer with you and Charles.
But that seems to upset her so I stopped.
[He didn't like to upset people, usually bad things happened when he upset people but more importantly, he didn't want to hurt River. Even if he feared for being able to properly help her.]
[ river likes his sweaters. they remind her of the things that simon used to wear, all formal and starchy-stiff wool. but, she supposes it isn't nice of her to take all all of them and so she peels one off from the collection that she's started and goes to tip-toe behind him, silently with a dancer's grace.
she drapes it over his shoulders and then leans around ]
But I'm not giving birth.
[ which is a reference to his nest comment, of course. ]
[He could feel her approach telepathically but doesn't turn around, allowing her to come up behind him with the sweater and sending back a warm wave of gratitude even as he tilts his head at her.]
I would certainly hope not. [Prim combination of Big Brother and British tones.] Boys are no good, stay away from them.
[His lips may twitch a little as he says this, arms working their way into the offered sweater.]
Fruits, vegetables, plenty of things with protein and fiber. I know there's not a great selection here, but if you can find canned fruits and veggies, it's better than nothing.
[That was something, right? Vegetables from cans have him making a face that is reminiscent of a five year old facing over cooked carrots but she's right. He should try to find some vegetables for their diet.]
Canned vegetables. I suppose I can look for those.
[The question gets a bit of a bemused look from him.]
Well I suppose we do, I think I remember reading about the breed, I just have never seen one in person.
Are you calling me a chihuahua? [He doesn't sound offended, because well, he had been complaining about it being cold. Sorry, Christine, sometimes he gets quickly turned around in conversations.]

'Teenagers' aren't known for their nesting habits.
Usually they just make messes and talk about how no one understands them.
Which teenager are you feeding?

This one has made a nest of my sweaters. I do not believe she is typical for a teenager.
The one now living with me.
[Sorry, he tends to be literal or oblivious from time to time.]

Alright, of course.
[He's gotten used to Erik in this small space and so doesn't even think to question why the man would be coming over. Maybe he left something?]

But you're a boy.
[ river blinks, confused, even while basking in the wave of gratitude that charles had projected over to her. ]

[See, logical! His face remains a study in neutral, though his blue eyes are bright with suppressed humor.]

Is she a teenager or a chihuahua?
