[Adam's face appears as the broadcast starts, peering at the camera with the morgue as a background. He studies it for a moment, and then he murmurs, with raised eyebrows:]

...Clever.

[He smiles, polite as can be.]Good evening to anyone who may be out there and receiving me. I wonder, could you tell me where I might find clothes ( Read more... )

[He frowns at the text message. It takes him a few minutes to figure out how to reply; forgive him, he missed the entire period during which cell phones were introduced.]

Do you mean this device?

If your lucky, fella might find a few things littered about the place your in now. If not try and find somethin' t'wrap 'round ya and run out in the snow. Seen some fancy shops about with clothes might fit ya.

As for what's goin' on, depends really. Nothin' at the moment. Just wakin' up in a place they keep the dead apparently.

Oh, it's snowing too, is it? Wonderful. I'll see what I can find and hit the shops later, I suppose.

...Right. I'm not supposed to be dead.

So you're not a lucky fella who's come back from the dead 'ere, huh?

Seems most people were never dead in the first place.

No, death wasn't on the agenda for me before my arrival.

[Despite some people's best efforts. :| ]

No one was dead yet we arrived via the morgue? Seems someone wants to unnerve us.

People usually leave clothes outside the door.

And what's going on is that we've all been kidnapped and dragged to this place for who knows what reasons.

Thank you; I'll check there.

No one's told us why? Do we even know who's responsible?

Afraid not. There's a few theories, but nothing solid. Things aren't normal here though. That's for sure.

Mm. I do think waking up on an autopsy slab with a toe tag affixed to me properly set the tone for not-normal.

Does this happen to everyone or am I just particularly unfortunate?

There's scrubs outside the door. Otherwise you're gunna have to have someone bring'em or go lookin' in the stores yourself.

Scrubs? Oh, right, the--

[He gestures at himself, indicating clothing.]

--things doctors wear. Thank you, I'll go check there. They'll have to do for now, I'm afraid. My wallet didn't make the trip with me so the stores are out of the question.

It's fine. There ain't any cash registers. Or workers. You just take what you like.

Won't that cause me some trouble with the authorities and shopkeepers?

Unfortunately little is known of where we are. [ She's not going to repeat what others have already mentioned ] The city is known as Abax, one that is in constant darkness. There is lighting but not anything which can be permanently left on.

[He nods, acknowledging both that she isn't repeating what the others have said, and his own gratitude for it.]

Thank you.

Does everyone arrive in Abax by way of the morgue?

longaevus December 28 2011, 19:17:13 UTC
They do. It's possible that whatever it is that does bring us here is only able to bring us to the morgue.

Good point. It's likely more manageable to divert people to one spot than to try to dump them all over the city.
