Under other circumstances, it would be fascinating to see so many scientific impossibilities coming together at one place.

Of course, waking up naked in a morgue detracts from it.

Let's see. This place is called Abax. The city is empty but supplies can be found, there is barely any working electricity and an unknown presence recently appeared... And ( Read more... )

'Cell phones': malfunctioning.

[Is someone annoyed? Yep, someone's annoyed. Of course, his phone's only played four annoying tunes at him, redirected him to images of strange fuzzy gridbugs, and replaced some data he was creeping on observing with random junk.

Today.

Apparently Abax technology doesn't like it when you try and screw too much with the default settings. Or other people's privacy settings. And the city has a sense of humor. Rinzler doesn't.]

Experiment.

[Nope, he's not going to give you the activity log of his woes. Sob, sob, it's so hard trying to creep on the world.]

Then I guess I'll keep it to myself when I fix them.

[ He's going to take that as a challenge. ]

No, that seems pretty accurate to me.

All that it takes is paying attention instead of panicking.

It's still a bit fascinating, you have to admit. Even with the terrible hosting skills.

Of course.

I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't think the city is at least worth some of my time.

Good to read it. A small enjoyment of the puzzle seems an uncommon opinion, even with the sudden luminescent flora.

There is nothing like the satisfaction of solving a puzzle. And if it's about something real, even better.

The cellular phones seem pretty advanced to me, someone coming from the year 1989, which suggests that we were pulled out of two different points in time. This city is possibly some sort of alternate dimension which would explain the differences in the realities that we all come from.

I'm sure the cellphones are adequate for the common populace, but I'm a scientist.

An alternate dimension seems plausible, yes.

I'm also a scientist and have been for many years without any cell phone to speak of, let alone a more advanced one. I fail to see how it would make a difference.

From the 80's! My specialty happens to be technology and I find faulty cellphones simply insulting.

[ Nope, sorry. He's heading that way. ]

People ought to pay more attention. That's all.

Not really. But if there isn't an immediate way of getting out I might as well entertain myself with the situation.
