By the goddess, if this is what waking up dead feels like I never wish to do so again. This device is...rather primitive, nothing similar in our technology back home. [Though she’s intrigued. This was a antique human device, was it not?] Fascinating, I never dreamed I would get my hands on something like this. It's amazing to think of what history ( Read more... )

It's similar. A bit lacking in explosions and searing pain, though.

As far as I can tell, we're not in any known part of the galaxy. The city's modelled after Earth, though - 20th or 21st century, as humans reckon things.

...You might have a chance to put your archaeological expertise to the test sooner rather than later, come to think of it. Except for us undead, the city's deserted.

[Beat.]

It's good to see you, Liara.

I see. [She pauses briefly, in thought.] I am looking forward to getting a general idea of what else is in this city. Perhaps looking into a library, seeing if there are any clues as to why the city is deserted.

[She can't help but smile a little bit.]

It's good to see you too, Shepard.

So far, we've been confined to a small section of the downtown core. I'm sure there's a way to access other sectors; it's just a matter of finding it.

How many people are in the city so far? I highly doubt whoever brought is here will keep us trapped in one area.

[Another alien? Oh well, at least he won't gape in shock at her. Although her lack of dress is a bit distracting... So he's just going to avert his eyes.]

Waking up in a morgue is never a pleasant experience. Freezer, table, or bag? [Oh the bonding moments this place allows for.]

It's not a name any of us recognized. As far as we can tell we've been pulled here from all over, including other worlds we'd been trapped in.

Table. I can't imagine waking up in a bag. [Or in a freezer. Goddess that sounds awful.]

If there is no one in the city, then how is it that we've been brought here? [There had to be an explanation somewhere. Though this human seemed to know something, at least.]

You're lucky. I woke in the freezer an it was quite unpleasant. [Both from the pitch black and the cold.]

I don't know to be honest. I imagine that something must have brought us here, and there have been traces of living things around the city, but we haven't seen anyone who caused this.

[pause]

Or at least we believe the creatures are living.

So far all we know is that we have some basic shops, a subway with trains that don't stop, something lives on the trains and isn't happy to be scene, and they don't like us climbing the clock tower.

[Yep, as awful as she thought it was going to be.]

You say creatures as if those who might have lived here weren't human or some sentient species. What sorts of traces are you talking about?

There must be a way to stop the subway train. [Though she's in thought for a moment.]

Did someone already try and climb it?

Dr. T'soni. Look at all that surprise in his voice.]

How convenient. We could use your expertise.

[Actually, after she did everything in her power to bring Shepard back to life, she shouldn't be so surprised to see the dead.

But seeing Nihlus was a little bit of a shock, despite the fact that she herself just woke up in a morgue.]

Thank you, Nihlus. I hope that my knowledge will be enough to help.

As do I.

I take it Shepard is briefing you on the situation. [More like he knows she is, but that much is suggested in his tone.]

So far, yes. It's not a situation that many seem to know about. [From what she's already read, she's not the first to arrive recently.] I assume you woke up here yourself. Not necessarily a pleasant experience.

[Oh hey Liara. Have a geth all up in your screen.]

Asari Liara T'Soni. Has Shepard-Commander answered all of your inquiries?

Most of them, at the very least. If you have anything to add, I would not mind hearing it. [Oh, this was Legion. She read the files on it. She's not phased on seeing the geth.]
