The ASB advertisements with Brian Blessed won the Fair Go Worst Ad of the Year award.

What?! How can that be?! It's BRIAN BLESSED!

I can only assume the people of this country are all mad. Though to be fair there were pointers in that direction already.

Yeah, I don't know what's going on there! It must be too many people who don't realise how awesome Brian Blessed is.

The problem is the makers of the ad don't realise how awesome Brian Blessed is... the ads look as if he's trying as hard as he can to tone himself down a bit so as not to terrify the customers. Not to mention that the ads themselves are bad. There's only so much an actor can do to redeem a bad script (the hands-down worst movie that I've seen in the last couple of decades was so bad that not even Jeremy Irons chewing the scenery as the villain could save it).

A shame, since their entire plan seemed to be "get Brian Blessed to do commercials for us."

Which is what my plan would be too. It's all in the execution, I guess!
