Spare a thought for my fellow Aussies in FNQ. Yasi is hitting them right now with the full force of it in about 30 minutes. That unlucky state has more than it's fair share this year. :(
It was a biggie! I'm amazed there has only been one fatality and that was a 23 year old man who was using a generator for power inside his house and died from the toxic fumes.
I'm right down the bottom end of Australia so it hasn't had any effect on me. do have friends up in Townsville, Cairns and Mission Beach who are all well and have had very little damage done to their homes.
Suzy, can you send me you home add again, please. I had it saved in my messages but accidentally ticked 'delete all' and lost it. I still have a CD to send you.
There's been one fatality and that was a 23 old man (see my reply above) so it's more likely that your friend is safe.
We have friends in Townsville too and checked on them yesterday. They said the noise was like a freight train going through the house and that the kids we're terrified. They're all safe but said the clean-up on their property will take a couple of months. Apparently a huge old gum tree, the trunk was so wide you couldn't wrap your arms around it, missed falling on their house by a coupld of feet. Very lucky people.
We're about the same thanks. Hubbie has at least got no worse but likewise, the new treatment isn't really making him any better. It's early days though so we will have to wait and see.
My friend has some trees around her house so will see if they survived or not. Still haven't been able to reach her but then I'm not really expecting to be able to.
