I'm writing my own. I seriously doubt that I'll finish it this month, but I'm sure that I'll win (winning just means that you hit 50K words) There was supposed to be an image that charts my progress accompanied with this post, but it seems to have a glitch in it. I wrote one last year in November, finished it in December, but I'm only 50% of the way through rewriting it (it was quite unreadable in its original form)
General premise: A geologist comes across a remarkable find... a new species of human-sized dinosaur entombed in rock along with shards of pottery. (80 million years old.) this, of course, reverberates throughout the world and ignites new scientific curiosity. People start (because they knew where to look) looking around the world at specific places and they begin to uncover more clues about this mysterious species of dinosaur. They uncover all sorts of interesting fossils, and then something that appears to be writing enscribed on a large piece of stone. Are you familiar with the Rosetta stone? well, this is sort of like that, but 80 million years old. Of course, no one can come close to reading the languages, but some mathemiticians start to realize that a lot of what they're looking at are scientific and mathematic formulas, etc. It turns out that this species of dinosaur was trying to find a way to survive some sort of global catastrophe that was happening.
