Back to gaming we-a-go!

After watching a bunch of walkthroughs and totally procrastinating on my studies lol, I've decided I'm going to go for a PS3 for when I start working. Yes, I know, the PS4 is coming out soon, but I think I'll get an older console first since it's a) way cheaper, b) probably less buggy, c) has more game selections ( Read more... )

Heavy rain is really psychological but it IS quite a good game. Catherine is an Atlus game and a puzzler, so if you can pick it up cheap, I'd suggest that too.

I love what I've seen of Heavy Rain, but I feel like the sombre tone might make me put it off for something less heavy... and I'm always so distracted, things I put off may never get played. xD;; What was it like for you to play it?

Oooh, Catherine! Heard good things about it. I'll keep a look-out, thanks!

Heavy rain tends to lean on the heavy/somber type, yeah. But it's interesting because you ultimately make very interesting psychological choices for the main character.

I didn't play it myself, but my brother did, and he thought the story was really good.

If Konami decides to create another Suikoden series (the ones from Suikoden1-5 universe, not the Terkries/6 series) for PS4, I'll buy it. Only have PS, PSP, n PS2. Not going to buy PS3, the games are not eye-catching :(

Aw really?? The Assassin's Creed series looks amazing! I only chose II 'cause the story's centered in Italy and the protaganist is a hot Italian. Also, Leonardo Da Vinci.

I think I've watched a friend play one of the Suikoden games.. forgot which one. :D; What's Terkries, though?

I love 2 like crazy! XDD The art was awesomely good, plot was freakingly twisted! Characters were superb. No 1 , 4,5,3. PLayed all.
Tierkries was like Suikoden 6 series, but in different universe than the rest, so I wasn't really hooked to it, beside there's plenty got changed too.

Whelp if you enjoy the Final Fantasies that are heavily influenced by Tetsuya Nomura, there's always FFXIII, which I enjoyed the gameplay. FFXIII-2 not so much.
Echoing the Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood.
Tales of Xillia seems to have really good reviews so far but my Japanese is too low level to tackle that.
Folklore which is an action platform which has gorgeous graphics and chockful of Celtic folklore
Also Okami HD, which if you've played on the PS2 is pretty, than the HD version is just gorgeous

I've read reviews that the story for FFXIII isn't so great, though. What do you think of it?

Oohhhh, I love the sound of Folklore. Gonna watch trailers and stuff once I get home, but putting that on the consideration list, thanks!

I enjoyed the storyline until about 2/3rds in. But then again I've found that my favourite FFs are the ones with the least involvement from Tetsuya Nomura. FFXIII gave of a very FFX feel to it. So I'd assume you'd enjoy it if you really liked FFX. But I was really indifferent to FFX. But I can honestly say that I loved the gameplay for FFXIII. Though FFXIII-2 was really a miss for me.

Ahh... I watched a friend play all of FFX. Not too big on it, either. I haven't been too interested in FF since FFVIIII tbh lol. Maybe I'll give it a try if I can find it cheap. o/
