I'm not a religious person, and never really paid much attention to any specific religion. I do enjoy learning about people's different beliefs & traditions as I do have my own kind of beliefs as well. I think religion is horrible in the sense of tearing people, families, friends, etc apart. But if everyone just had an open mind & the kindness to let people have their own beliefs, the world would be such a better place. Everyone needs something to believe in, to get them through the day, or a traumatic experience or just life in general.
They asked me to lead their bible study. Wisely, they fed me a massive dinner at a really nice seafood place before asking.
So of course I said yes.
I'm thinking now I either need to start googling or get a white robe, grow a long beard, and lead them down to the river for some baptizing.
I was somewhat surprised that they were all middle aged housewives, thought it would be a group of university aged students. Which to some extent is nice as middle aged people tend not to be so automatically accepting of absolutely everything. They were swilling beer like champs, which is different from your average born-agains.
