Yeah, the character development (i.e. the writing and direction) were my biggest problems with the series. I just wasn't enticed into really caring about any of the characters, and didn't click with the show as a result.

The shows I get most attached to are the ones where I come to feel like I know who the characters are, even well enough so that I can almost predict how they'll act in a given situation. In this show, I was having a tough time understanding any of the motivations for why people were doing various things. Again, I think this was primarily a weakness in the writing.
