Tooth woes

Aug 01, 2008 20:29

Until two years ago, I'd never had a toothache.  Mind, I'd had a bizillion cavities, filled and refilled over the years.  Even had a couple of the dreaded roots canaled with subsequent implanted toothe products.  But I'd never known the pain of a toothache until that time two years ago.  Unrelenting ache ... involving my mouth, sinuses, ears.  Just ( Read more... )

oWwWwW.

I'm having sympathy pains just reading about it.

I actually have one of the few dentists left that does it all. Still costs an arm and a leg (or in your case, a tooth!)

Hope the gagging stops soon.

Thanks.
The bleeding stopped. No more gauze, no more gagging. I took a pain med and went to bed. Had the best night's sleep in ... I can't remember.

Today I'm sore, but that's all. I need to be careful not to dislodge the clot that's sealing the cavern in my mouth so my diet is greatly curtailed. I can deal.

I don't know how long it'll be until I get enough courage to explore the thing with my tongue. All in all, I'm pleased with my decision.

Same with my dentist. I needed a root canal so I went to specialist #1. I was all prepped - shots - nerves - everything - and that specialist told me the tooth wasn't worth it. Dumb thing was cracked down the middle. So another appointment and a month later, dentist #3 yanked the sucker. Blech! I hate gauze. *shudders*

Was told I'd need a bridge to stop my teeth from moving. I still don't have one. I'm a tooth grinder at night, so I use my biteguard and it seems to keep everything from shifting. Not like I'm all that younger either!

Thanks mim!
I'm fine now. The pain was minimal. Hooray. I took my own good advice and doped myself up the first night and slept well. Tricky eating the first day because I was aware of that huge chasm in my mouth, but now I've taken the plunge and did a little exploring. It's all good. And no more toothache. Now I go back for a $125 cleaning and exam and then they tell me about the bizillion dollars I need to come up with for the rest of it.
Oh well, it's gotta be!
