Okay, it’s not really a published study.

But, dozmuffinxc recently posted a ttmt which reminded me of my experience at the Harry Potter Exhibit.

I went to that same exhibit. I feel as though soooooo much of it was a blur for me... Mostly because I got stopped several times because of my shirt (I think I was wearing a Leaky shirt at the time)....and I had some of my handiworks on me....so all of the attendants were asking me questions. I barely got to see Lord Voldemort's costume.

Also, I think that was around the same time I was buying my house and I was freaking out about the money we spent to go (even though I had bought my tickets months before).

I also walked around the rest of the museum that day. It was a good day. :D

I kind of feel as if I didn't do the exhibit justice, by not committing every detail to memory. But that's part of it! Being overwhelmed by the experience, or by fellow fans fawning over your handiworks, makes it a fabulous blur!

I'm glad you have good memories of it, too, even though it was at a tricky time in your life. :)

I know those feelings so well, and I have no doubt I would have responded exactly as you did in such close proximity to brilliance! I have so much respect for the "crew," having been in their position more than once. Acting is great, but the actors would have been nothing without the careful ministrations of costumes, set, special effects, etc. I can picture your reactions exactly, because they are just how I responded to seeing "Hamlet" at The Globe in London and "meeting" David Tennant and Catherine Tate at the stage door for "Much Ado." After all, calm and coherency are overrated ;)

My first major in college was musical theatre, and I soon realized backstage was far more interesting than onstage. And "Hamlet" and "Much Ado" at the Globe?!? *singsongs*...jealllous! Yay for freaking out at the stage door. :)

I so want to visit the exhibit, but it never came anywhere near Texas, and yes, I have pouted!

That all-encompassing feeling of fandom joy? That's the feeling I had at both fandom conferences I went to. I would love to go again someday, if life allows. There is literally no other feeling in the world like being surrounded by unabashed Harry Potter fans!

I do hope one day you get to go to the exhibit...it really is amazing and I know you'd just love it!

It's the only structured HP "thing" I've ever attended, and you're right, it is a truly singular feeling.
