*porccio* …Or, How Not to Make a Polymer Clay Wand Handle

Jun 30, 2011 20:57

I was so pleased with myself for triumphing over The Sewing of Vinyl. My wand holder came out nicely, if I say so myself. I was excited to make the accompanying wand, and had all sorts of beautiful ideas swirling in my head.

I knew I wanted to try a polymer clay handle on a wood wand. But I’ve only ever worked with polymer clay once in my life…six ( Read more... )

Thank you! This was so much fun to do.

And I think we should indoctrinate them early...I think my daughter knew Geordi, Worf, and Data before she knew any of her cousin's names!

What a stunning idea for a wand holder. Actually, your request on Mad. Malk's was quite timely because I was also contemplating how to sew a wand holster with vinyl, except I was considering one strapped to the thigh. I didn't know about the tissue paper until someone responded to your post, and it really is the perfect solution. Now if I can convince my sewing machine that thick does not mean impossible . . .

I hope you wear your holster to the movie release (or the Cinerama's previous weekends HP movie fest, if you're still in Seattle).

Oopps, never mind about the Cinerama, I just peeked at your profile and it looks like your at a place bit more east with a lot more wind.

I'm so glad the vinyl-sewing tidbits from Mme. Malkin's will be helpful. It really was so easy...I was surprised! Just make sure you go slowly, as not to strain your machine's motor too much.

And yep, now we're in Chicago, and I've got my midnight tickets for a showing in....wait for it.... Skokie!:)
