I'm so sorry your "go-to" is going away. I'm sure it's awesome being able to just "pop out" down the street for a spool of thread. It will definitely force you to have to plan any kind of fabric/notion shopping from now on. :( Sounds like a good excuse to stock up on things though... maybe they'll have a bolt sale. ;)

Quit it! Everything's at 40% off, with an extra 10% if you buy the bolt! Every fibre of my being is being pulled toward Hancock's!!

Unfortunately, this is the only local place I can get quilting cotton. I had to make a lot of little shopping trips for the last birthday blocks swap, so this shop closing is going to influence the Big Decision of swapping in 2013.

I bet they'll go lower than that before the end. Maybe you should wait so there's less awesome stuff to buy when you do finally make a final visit to them...

Yeah, I ended up making quick trips too, because I didn't have BLACK of all things. That's something I should really by by the yard. I use it all the time when I'm actually sewing at all.

Sounds like you'll be stuck like kristel having to buy online. I hate not being able to see and touch the fabric in person...

i buy online, not because i can't get stuff here but because it's so expensive to buy here! $22/m for fabric that sells for $9/yard in the USA

Oh NOOOOOO!!!! I would be pinching myself and hoping I was just having a really bad dream :0( I feel your pain. We have no fabric stores in my area. It is a day trip for me to make the trek to get anything. We do have a Walmart but our store is very light on the fabrics :0( We have a quilting shop about 20 minutes away. Beautiful quilt fabrics but very pricey.

I definitely got spoiled with this shop so close to me! I'm also a bit sad because I was really friendly with everyone who worked there and we liked sharing projects with each other.

We have the same kind of 'boutique' quilt shops somewhere nearby, I've never really checked into them because they're so pricey. Oh well, I'll just have to spend some time "researching" online fabric shops! :)
