I knew from his other films that Fritz Lang was a good story teller and the found footage has kept that opinion. The old cuts were frustrating because so much was lost. The found copy also gave the restorers the proper editing for the film. It was really hacked up by Paramount. I have no doubt that in time they will be able to go through it frame by frame and clean it up. And then I'll go out and buy another copy. It will be, I think, my sixth copy of the film.

Yay! Another Metropolis fan!

They played the movie here in Toronto, and I got to see if twice. First night was with a live orchestra playing a newly commissioned score, second night was with the original score.

Ya - it makes a lot more sense now with all the footage added.

What also surprised me was they had additional footage that was from other sources that were good quality. I had watched the 2002 dvd a few days before seeing this, and pretty certain of at least 3 places where there were some added bits.

It actually was released on DVD and BluRay at the end of November under the name The Complete Metropolis by Kino Films.
