My theory: At your particular height, bordering just above the size requirement to ride rides at the Smurf fair, you find yourself in a space/time warp where pictures show how time and space are bending into themselves. If you were just a millimeter taller or shorter you wouldn't see it.
Perhaps it's because of the height of the heels of your shoes, that you don't always see it. Which shoes were you wearing when you took that particular picture?

My David also gets lost all the time. If I want o be cruel I'll give him directions as east or west. I can't count the number of times he's called me at home for directions.
PS: Can we see the pic where Steve drops his towel?

It might be an issue with a filter or a lense, or maybe even your shutter speed.
