I am a feminist. I love this essay.

My wife and I are supporters of The Network/La Red, but they are a local group, not a national group, who work to end LGBTQ partner abuse. As such, they cater to men, women and others in harmful situations. BARCC is also a local organization, and they cater to survivors and supporters. What's awesome about them is their work, but I am highly impressed by their current website: the word rape is quite small, pictures on their site include men, and there is a quick exit button for anyone who may not be able to use a computer without fear of being supervised.

I recommend RAINN, not just because they partner with Glee and shows on national networks to get their message out, but because they partner with local rape crisis centers like BARCC as well. The National Sexual Assault Hotlines they created (800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org) have been up and running since 1994.
