I do not blame those urges one bit, because, wow, irrevocable heart-wrenching otp feels for life. I want more horrible deep looks into each other's eyes. And Sakura hugging him and him not being able to hug back.
I'm usually waaaaay more interested in writing fic than reading it when canon inspires me to think of what-ifs, so I tend to have a bit of trouble coming up with ideas for what I want for fic exchanges...but I also usually wind up with a handful of ideas for things that I wanted from canon but didn't get that I'd rather read than write.
1. My big "what I really wanted from Mai-HiME" idea is always and will forever be some kind of epic story of love and adventure centering around Shizuru/Natsuki and Haruka/Yukino as both characters and pairings, with Shizuru and Haruka the primary protagonists. The scene at the end of episode 22/beginning of episode 23 was wonderful, but it wasn't enough to make proper use of all the awesome potential those four had among them. My position was always that the four of them would rule the world when they grew up and dealt with their issues better, and there's even been a spin-off/AU where that had pretty much happened, but it all happened before canon started and the prequel dealt with something else
