Apop thoughts: Christina Aguilera's Not Myself Tonight was terrible as both a song and a vid. Miley Cyrus's new song Can't Be Tamed is catchy and makes me think she's the new Britney Spears.
To be totally fair I don't know what happened, I'm just erring on the side of caution for my mental health. But I will defend my statements about Moffat's fucked up view on gender with quotes if I need to.
Amy kisses the Doctor at the end of this episode. She's kind of jumping on him, all LET'S GO! and he's detailing all the reasons why it would be a bad idea. It didn't strike me as especially triggery, but then, I'm not in the right position to judge.
That he's 900 years old, she's human he's not, he'll never age but she will, she's getting married (she finally tells him about her upcoming wedding to Rory), etc. And she says that she's not looking for something "quite so long-term" and that she's not married yet. She's very much the instigator.
I can't really...tell someone whether it is or is not triggery. And I certainly can't contradict someone who found it so.
BUT I would note that this is Doctor Who fandom and a companion legit went up to the Doctor and was like "DO ME."
Which, uh, is going to raise an outcry regardless because this is fandom.
For my part, it read as him being flaily, not because he was in a DNW place, but because he was 1) extremely surprised/boggled and 2) thought it was inadvisable. It's basically, as Carrie mentioned, OMG, flaily hands, flaily hands, OMG, reciprocal kissing. This all being the Doctor's reactions.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK SHE WAS THINKING?!!?! She's honestly one of the better singers out there.
And haahahaha the lesbian male gaze kiss and then there was her talking about her gays. That wasn't offensive at all. >: or maybe she only means men. idk.
