I was in a heterosexual marriage and only felt admiration for gays who are married. Anyone brave enough to be married has my admiration, regardless of sex.

But why do we do this meme? Is someone counting the stats on it? Or is it just a means of expressing solidarity? I've been wondering about it?

Solidarity for the most part... frustration over the fact that it needs to be said.... Frustration that Britney can run out and get hitched without any thought whatsoever while a couple who are devoted to one another but happen to be the same gender are seen as a threat to marriage.
