I will never own up to the fact that willing chose a dress. No, I was forced. It was all that the box would give me. Honestly. Just like the fact that I'm oddly fluttery for no reason, because we're just friends and this is just food, so there is no reason to be nervous is something that doesn't exist. I take a deep breath, cracking my knuckles and tucking my hair behind my ears, before speed walking the rest of the way.
"Hi," I greet, smiling. See? Not weird.

His heart skipped when he saw her, though he ducked his head to hide his grin. He set the forks and spoons down, then got to his feet for no good reason.
"Hey. I like the dress."

"Thanks. It's all the dang box would give me." I tug awkwardly on the edges, before gesturing to what he's set up.
"This looks nice. Outdone yourself O'Keefe, I see."

He turned to look at the spread on the ground and smiled some. "You say that now, you haven't tried any of it yet."
It was weird, them like this. Awkward because it wasn't quite a date, but at the same time it was just them. And they were good together.
