When I was teaching piano a few days ago, I heard someone playing a familiar piece in the room next to mine. It sounded so familiar, but I couldn't figure out what it was. It took me like 5-10 mins to finally figure it out. (I tried to remember it during the lesson lol) It was Joe Hisaishi's One Summer's Day from Spirited Away. Ahhh... I love that ( Read more... )

I always get mad at my sister for saying Disney is awesome like is the only top company. She refuses to watch japanese animations.
Disney have good animations, but Idk Ghibli is other level. However Mulan, not a princess, is a gem. She totally owns the men and save China. I hope someday I can make her to see :P she needs to see the light.

I wish I could buy all Ghibli's dvd. Sometimes we can't have all lol
I love The Tale of the princess Kaguya, Tonari no Totoro and Spirited Away (I need to re-watch the last one)
Mai Mai Miracle / Maimai Shinko to sennen no mahō is a nice animation. It's not Ghibli made. But, the guy who produce this animation worked at the Ghibli Studios. So, it's a tip to see another japanese animation.

Yes to mulan! She and Merida are the only princesses I like. Well, I actually like Elsa too, but she's too overrated so I kinda lose interest lol.

I really wanna watch the tale of princess kaguya. I saw that the animation was done with watercolor(?). At first, I thought it was just a really great fan art. It looked really beautiful tho. I can't wait to watch it.

And thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely put mai mai miracle on my watchlist :-)

Kaguya's really pretty to look. I showed to my cousin and she loved. Because she heard the tale on a course, so introduced her to the film. I don't think she sees animations in general. I liked the story too. It's beautiful.

Sometimes Disney makes good characters, but the story stays flat. Merinda is cool and all that, but i found the story weak. The same thing I could say about The Princess and the Frog. Frozen, i found Ana funny. Still it's not a movie to watch multiple times. It's good movie nevertheless.

Another one that's overrated is Inside Out. I liked the concept, the idea behind, but after a time it got boring. However if you haven't watched check Zootopia from Disney. It's worth 'cause of social nuances. This movie is popular with adults.
I like to collect animations dvds/blu-ray now. I wish I would have bought more when I was younger. At the same time I didn't have much money to spent back then XD I wanna show all what's good to my future nieces or nephews.

Yeah, I heard Kaguya is really good. That's why I really wanna watch it. Have you watched all ghibli movies? What are your favorites?

I think Brave has a pretty good storyline. The Princess and the Frog is really bad though. I fell asleep halfway through. But I think the songs are great. Almost There is one of my favorite Disney songs.

Inside Out is good, but not THAT good like people say. I find it very funny tho, but I don't think the kids will get the humor. Only teens and adults will get it. And some of my friends said that Joy is annoying. I kinda understand what they meant. Joy is my least favorite among the emotions.

I've also been watching a lot of animated movies since last year. I bought some of my favorites on iTunes, and downloaded some off the internet. It's kinda a weird experience rewatching my favorite childhood movies as an adult.
