Background: Anthony Bourdain was a chef in Manhattan for 23 years. These days though, he runs the snarkiest travel/foodie show on TV called "No Reservations". His insights are on-point, and his tastes tend to be mine, too. For an idea of the level of snark involved, here's his blog: http://anthony-bourdain-blog.travelchannel.com/

Greatly enjoyed your commentary. :)
Now I want to go to Melbourne to eat which is annoying because I'm Tasmanian, we go to the Mainland for things we don't have. Their superior shopping, events and sunshine. Not for food.
No-one ever goes to Tassie on these shows :( we are so much more special than Victoria. *sulks*

No one ever goes to Tassie? Hell, I'd never seen a show about Australia outside of NSW and the beaches of QLD.

But if Melbourne's where the good food is, maybe you should see if that ferry has a frequent-sailor program(me)?

But I believe you that Tasmania's special. And I'm sure that somewhere there's a travel show on your home state, too!

Good point, it's a pity. no-one does rural the way Australia does. and I guess it's not like we see a lot of shows that go to American cities that aren't New York or LA.

it's probably cheeper to catch a plane than the 'ferry' :P but yes, being all growed up now means travellies when ever I so please and can afford.

Well there is a really boring show on our local station that spends an hour doing slideshows of beautiful photos of Tasmania while playing 'please hold' type music. otherwise we're a well kept secret.
