Sure. It's best to do both.

But some books have that extra something you may need to look deeper into them to discover.

There could be themes that are overlooked, character actions that are misinterpreted, plot developments that combine to create something new and different.

It's also easier to study one book deeply than to study 1,000 books deeply.

True . . . true. I actually have four books I read over and over. I see something new each time and I love them just as much today as I did when I first read them.

I have certain books that I read often. Either to relive the experience of the book or to study why I love that author so much.
