Aaron and I have been considering taking up recreational kayaking, probably at Lake Padden or in calm areas of the bay. I’ve never been kayaking before, but I think it could be fun. I wish kayaks weren’t so expensive. We’re going to end up getting inflatable ones, which aren’t bad ( Read more... )

I think one of the community colleges does kayaking classes up there, we were going to do the class before we left, but obviously never got around to it. If you ever go to WWU they have kayaks that the students can use up on Lake Whatcom.

I *did* go to WWU =P not anymore though

Also, I would take a class but they're so darned expensive. There was a free class offered at the community boating center, but they had to postpone it due to permits. I think Aaron and I will be fine freestyling it as long as we practice things like turning the boat upright if we tip it and how to get out if we can't turn it upright. The rest we can learn fairly easy I think.
