Mysterious Goings-On at MCA#4

Dec 19, 2006 16:44

The center of the living room of Mauvaise Chance #4 had been cleared, all the furniture pushed to the walls and the rug rolled up in the corner. In the middle of the cleared space were numerous esoteric symbols drawn in chalk, surrounding a largish circle. Candles had been set strategically about the area, and an observer might have expected to ( Read more... )

After he, Phoebe, Isabel, and Cameron had gathered at the school, Bel headed over to Phale and Wilson's apartment. He knocked on the door.

Careful not to disturb what the angel was working on, Wilson pulled the door open as Aziraphale called out, "Do come in, Belthazor." He looked up from his work, wiping a smudge of chalk on the leg of his jeans. "I'm just about finished. Mind the candles, and don't step into the circle."

Bel stepped into the apartment, nodding at the others to follow. "We're all set," he said, gingerly avoiding the chalk and candles. "So how is this going to work?"

Smiling at four of them as they came into the room, Aziraphale closed the book and set it well aside, and then stood.

"Actually, it ought to be a relatively simple thing. I'm going to open a sort of portal, the kind that's generally used for communication, only this one's quite a lot larger than that. And then the four of you will simply step into the circle. I'd suggest holding hands, though, just to be sure you all end up in the same place."

Once he was certain all four of the students were completely through to the other side -- or as certain as he could be, considering he'd never actually done anything like this before -- Aziraphale let out a long sigh and released his hold on the circle. The shaft of light immediately vanished, and once it had, he quickly brushed his hand across several of the chalk symbols, breaking the boundries of the circle and releasing any residual power it might have retained.

"Well, that's that," he murmured, closing his eyes for a moment. "James love...could I bother you for a cup of tea?"

Wilson was incredibly fretful at this point but he moved quickly into the kitchen to pour hot water over the tea he had waiting, lavender tea, just like his lover tended to feed him when he was feeling under the weather.

Bringing it back into the living room, Wilson carefully hunkered down beside the angel and held the mug out to him.

"Here you go, love." He said softly, watching the angel worriedly.

"Thank you," the angel replied, with a tired smile. He held the cup near his face, inhaling the warm fragrance before sipping at it. "I'm all right, love, just a bit on the tired side. Rather like...running a very long distance, I expect. But I don't feel at all ill, just wanting a bit of rest."

Aziraphale opened his eyes and looked into Wilson's, so that his lover could see that he was telling the truth. "We'll just need to blow out the candles and get this all cleaned up, and then I'll lie down for a bit, and perhaps you could read to me."

"I'll take care of it." Wilson assured Phale with a gentle smile, then he turned and set about blowing out the candles, very carefully keeping to the outside of any chalk circles. Once the candles were out, the young doctor ducked into the kitchen and, returning with some Murphey's Oil soap, water and some paper towels, he began to clean up the floor of the apartment.

Whatever he was thinking, he kept to himself as he focused himself on the mundane but mind focusing act of cleaning up the living room.
