O.Z. Trip - Part II - Magicboysayswhat?

Mornings in the O.Z. were exceptionally bright, what with the two suns shining into the huge windows of each room.

About an hour after the second sun rose, knocks started sounding on all the doors with students behind them. Well, the ones that were supposed to have students behind them.

The knocking is polite, but very loud.

Karal had finally managed to get some sleep, but it wasn't much, and he was already awake when the knocking sounded. As soon as he was out of bed, Altra immediately rolled over to lie in the spot Karal had been, his sleepy mental mumbling about it being warmer making Karal smile.

Once he was dressed and had said his morning prayers, he sat next to the Firecat. "Time to face the day."

Altra yawned, stretched, and opened one eye. :Must we?:

"We must, but on the bright side, I'm sure there will be breakfast."

Altra perked up, gave himself a quick shake, and hopped off the bed. :Then what are we waiting for?:

Ino was bright-eyed and very chipper for someone who'd gotten extremely little sleep the night before. So, when the knocking came she chirped a 'Good morning!' to the door and went about brushing her hair a bit more.

When she felt that it was as brushed as it needed to be she left the room, a bounce in her step, in search of food. Exploring made a person hungry, you know.

Andrew was up early. Even though the bed was extremely comfortable and his partner was very warm and snuggly, he couldn't quite get rid of that bubble of anxiety flitting about his chest.

He was nervous for Liir. Nervous for his day and the pending meeting with the queen.

So he was gazing at the boy quite intently, lightly stroking his hair, and offering up what he hoped was something close to prayer to whatever might be out their listening.

Breakfast

It's quite the spread, so eat up.

Karal wasn't overly hungry, but luckily Altra was there to make up for him.

Altra's table manners were impeccable as he delicately ate tidbits off of a plate, but they were disappearing at a phenomenal rate.

Karal was watching him, wide-eyed. "Glory, you must be hungry!"

:The Jump took a lot out of me,: he replied, nodding at Karal to fetch him more. :I feel like I've aged a hundred years.:

Obediently, Karal filled his plate again, then settled back, sipping his tea and nibbling at a bit of fruit.

"Morning!" Ino caroled as she found the room where breakfast was. "Isn't this fun?"

"Good morning, Ino!" Karal greeted her with a smile. "It is certainly interesting."

Altra flicked his ears at her in greeting.

Explore the palace

Since it's daytime, the staff is more likely to help if you need directions.

A quick question to a servant had yielded directions to the library.

Once there, Karal spent some time simply wandering around, getting a feel for it, before selecting a thick, leather bound book. He couldn’t read the language, but it was filled with incredibly detailed colour plates, and he curled up in an overstuffed chair, pouring over them and tracing the shape of the letters.

Altra was meandering around the library, occasionally sniffing at the wall, tail twitching.

Inside the wall, there was quite a bit of skittering.

There were other noises, but the thick layer of books between outside ears and the noise within muffled it credibly.

A marching band in plate mail could have paraded through the library, and Karal wouldn't have noticed until they blocked the light.

Altra, on the other hand, had the sharp ears of a cat who was also the avatar of a god. Those ears pricked forward and he started tracking the skittering noises.

Liir and the Queen

She's waiting patiently with a few books that should be helpful.

He's spiffed up as well as he could, taming his hair as far as it would tame and dressing in the Ozian jacket that his professor had gotten for him combined with a utilitarian pair of jeans which he hoped would be appropriate. He had no idea what would be required of him when one of the servants let him into the room and he stood before the Queen.

"Your Majesty," he said, presenting himself with a slightly awkward bow. His body still had the problem of a puppy's, oversized paws he had yet to grow into and all.

She stood when he entered, letting her head nod at the bow.

"Liir."

The Queen was holding a book, one slender finger holding a place between the pages but she wasn't bringing attention to it yet.

"Tell me, what exactly has the problem been?"

Even now, she could feel the spark of it drift around him. It had happened again, last night, and that he didn't believe it to be magic seemed the most confusing point of view she'd ever encountered. Still, it would be better to get his full view on the subject first.

He swallowed awkwardly as well, the lot of it bobbing from the bottom of his jaw down almost comically
