Jervis might not be entirely wrong in comparing Simon to a caged beasty. He certainly has a tendency to pace as feeding time approaches. Four steps measures the length of his glass wall. Four steps turn four steps turn four steps turn, his shoulder just rubbing the glass ( Read more... )

Daniel takes his friend to one of the private therapy rooms, assuring the concerned guards that he won't need any more help. The call has been made to Superintendent Warden about what steps should be taken from here. It's all about waiting until they hear back.

The door closes, and he waits for Walter to sit. And then follows suit, burying his head in his hands.

"...Walter..."

He tries to mask his disappointment. This was an awful thing to happen, sure, but it's not as if Geoffrey worries that much about Simon's condition. He's really more impressed with Walter's performance and would like him back on as security. He needs more self-motivated guys like that.

"I think the stress could easily get to a lot of people. Take some time and think about your decision. We might be able to adjust your duties."

Geoffrey looks at Dan like the man asked a stupid and useless question.

"Hmm? Oh, Simon will be fine... In time. They're taking him to the hospital. Our infirmary won't exactly cut it. Walter did some real damage there. He's alert enough to bite my staff, though, so I'm sure he'll pull through."

Walter is glad that his employer seems to have no great love for Simon Garoux. The boy got just shy of what he really deserves and Walter will stand by that. He nods at the suggestion to think about it and give it time. He will, but he greatly doubts he'll change his mind. Also, he's anticipating possible jail time when Simon speaks to authorities.

"Thank you, sir. Will consider the offer."

He isn't in the wrong for asking, damn it. He isn't. He curls his hands into fists at his sides, for -- just a second. Just. Then he stands, too.

"I'll -- I-I should get back to work, sir. Thank you."

"Good. Good. Think on it. I'd hate to see you leave because of...that."

He nods and turns to leave the room. He pauses at the doorway and waves his hand ineffectually.

"Back to work, Dreiburg. Yes. Take a fifteen minute break, if you need it. Kovacs can show himself out, I'm sure."

"Mmm. Thank you."

Walter rubs at his hand where he was bitten, pulling his sleeve down over the small wound. He looks back at Daniel and thinks of saying something, but just nods slightly. He'll talk to him later. At home. Maybe.
