Halloween: Trick or Treat

Nov 06, 2009 23:48

The Scarecrow set him free and for that, the Joker is grateful enough to play along with his games. He could just lay low for a couple days and let the law and Batman chase Crane down tonight. Let that nut get himself caught and then make a move. He's been buttered up with presents and provided with a little amusement, though, so he'll help cause a ( Read more... )

McCoy was less of a mess than most people would be in a similar position.

(Said position being: known by the Joker by name, and having repeatedly insulted and humiliated him over the course of a number of months.)

He was anxious, yes. Suddenly painfully aware of the security inadequacies of his home and on his person. And yes, maybe, he was afraid, as much as he'd like to state otherwise. But he was doing his best to be aware of that fear, and not let it run away from him. Not panic. Not be stupid. If Johnny Doe decided to go after him, to pay him back for his treatment or just to have some fun, it would happen whether he was afraid or not. It was all a matter of how much of a fool he made of himself, in the process ( ... )

Luke hmms, looking amused at the Joker's confidence that Eddie won't come after him again. Or is incapable of it. "It's your head. Hah."

The mask is removed, and he knows that cold sobriety and all the implications of this situation are going to hit him like a sledgehammer soon enough. For now, though, he just flexes his jaw to try and relieve the itch from the mask having been pressed against his skin for so long, and enjoys the unadulterated air, as rank as it is.

"Thank you kindly."

'alright. u have a nice day. i've got things to do'

He turns the phone off and pockets it. Eddie is so annoying. The Joker had him on a mental list to be dealt with, but now that he knows the man's sick he'd rather let him die naturally. Eddie's making it hard to stick to that.

"Right now, Eddie isn't a problem. If that changes, maybe I'll worry. Probably not, though."
He laughs with so much more force than called for that it's more a facial expression with a wheeze that works its way into being a noise.

"I have work to do. You just stay right here and be good."

And there goes his phone. God damn it.

He makes a face at the painful-sounding 'laugh,' and would like to say something about it, but can't think of what. ANd he's given something else to say, soon enough, anyway.

"How about one out of two?"

That actually makes the clown laugh. Luke's fun. That's why Luke's alive. That, and he isn't scared. Isn't scared and seems to come almost close to understanding the Joker. While that bothers him, it also intrigues him. Luke is interesting enough to live. At least as long as he's useful.

"Naughty naughty, doc. No leaving, sorry. If you want to be bad ah..you'll just have to do it in here."
He stretches and goes to the door, knocking on it to get it opened. He lowers his voice to talk to the guard, but Luke can probably still hear just fine. Maybe he's supposed to.
"If he tries too hard to escape, break his legs."

"I heard that," he calls across the room, then realises that yes, he might have been meant to. Oh, well. At least he isn't threatening to break his arms. But then, Johnny may want him to use those, sometime in the future. Damn.
