For all that buildup, this giant mythical reputation she's built up, Mrs. Fitz... what is it, now...? well, her party really doesn't seem that bad. Sure, her home is a little Rococo. And pink. And there's that dog. And the hostess herself, flitting about and trying to talk up every seemingly-available male in the place ( Read more... )

If these people stopped having fundraisers as an excuse to throw parties, and actually did something, Gotham would be a better place. First of all, there would be less boring parties.

Sometimes, there are interesting people, though, interesting conversations or genuine opportunities. It is worth going for reasons other than maintaining appearances, or Adrian would put more effort into a solid excuse to avoid them.

Anyway, he's here, drinking something that is not alcohol, and eating something that is not meat.

"No searching for civilization, and you get whatever is in your pockets right now."

He pats himself down, thinking. Cell phone, wallet... "This would be a lot easier if I had a pocket knife. But I could take apart my phone for that, I guess. If I could find a good spot for shelter, and running water, I think I'd be okay for a while. But not indefinitely."

Adrian inventories his own pockets. "About the same." He -does- have one of those pocket knife card gadgets, but he's not going to open his wallet and show that off.

"I'd say this means camping trip, but I'm pretty sure that's not such a good idea."

They'd come back to Gotham burnt to a cinder.

"It's a good idea to get out of the city. Every so often." What's so important about sleeping through meetings that you can't leave behind, Bruce?

"True." He makes a face. "I guess I'm just sort of afraid of what I'll come back to. You know?"

"You can be assured that it will be Gotham." So, yes, one could be quite justified in being afraid...

Bruce smirks. "Exactly."

"Excuse me, sir?" The media approaches, Mr. Veidt! Or, well... one member of it. "Would you mind if I took a picture?" He holds up his camera, with a smile that carefully hides his teeth.

"Not at all." He smiles back, in a holding-the-expression-for-the-camera sort of way. "What is this for?"

Click! He checks the display, and finds the shot to his approval. "Thank you." Oh, hey, questions. "Well, my usual buyer probably isn't goin' to be interested in an event like this, so it depends on who's buyin'. D'you have any preferences?"

Once the shot's taken, he relaxes into a more conversational smile. "You're looking for work?" Not that he's looking for a photographer.

Hey, if Pickman's anything (well, really, he's a lot of things), he's versatile. "I never say no. I'm a painter by trade, but that doesn't always pay the bills."

A mercenary artist. Hm. "You should see if Mrs. Fitz needs a portrait of her little dog." Entirely pleasant, and entirely certain that is not this fellow's ideal subject matter. That would be a joke.

Pickman is pretty certain that that's what it is, anyway. He giggles, that weird chirping sound. "I, ah, suspect, sir, that my style wouldn't meet 'er expectations for such a project."
