They've escaped the Overwatch's trap, but Gordon and Alyx aren't away from Combine influence completely. Two dropships passed overhead a few minutes ago, followed by a hunter-chopper which, thank God, didn't seem to notice the car. All three were headed in the same general direction--toward White Froest

"Definitely not," Gordon murmurs, but his eyes are on the road. The car's handling has never been his favorite, and it's not really helping now-

Oh, hell, the road stops dead up ahead. He grumbles to himself and taps the brake, looking around for some kind of an alternative.

The log fence at the edge of the road is partially collapsed, and there's a gap in the treeline providing a potential path down into the valley. And just barely visible across the valley--

"Hey, I see an antenna! I think that's White Forest!"

"Hold on tight then," Gordon says, and aims for the gap.

Oh, wow. And he thought the shock absorbers were taxed to their limit before.

The drop is steep but short, and the bank of the stream at the bottom of the valley is flat and relatively free of obstructions.

At least until they run smack into a metal gate blocking the streambed.

Alyx looks at it and shrugs. "Well, we're close enough to make it the rest of the way on foot if we have to..."
